Taigen Metal Tiger I Kit Build - Page #8

I’ve been using these weathering kits for the past year now and I love them because you can blend colors and you can also clear coat them without distorting the colors. For me, I wont be putting a clear coat over everything because I will be using this tank outside mostly and want the hot Texas sun and the outside elements to naturally weather the Tiger I tank even more.

The next few pictures below show the camouflage netting I put on the back of the turret made with a tack cloth. More information on making camouflage netting can be found here  “Camouflage Netting Project”. This is a very easy project that anyone can do in a few hours time to dress up your armor model. The netting is rolled up to give it size and bulkiness and glued in place.

The bucket comes with your kit and was sanded down first, than a coat of my black wash went on the outside and let dry for about 30 minutes. Than I used my PanPastel weathering kits to further enhance the weathering on the bucket. The big long netting pole was made from K&S 3/32 aluminum Tubing, sanded and then painted using Model Master Steel.

The rope is green in color, so I painted it using Model Master Wood and then used my PanPastel weathering colors to further distress the rope. The rope was also cut and used on the ends of the camouflage netting show below.

I had extra netting left over so I decided to put some netting on other areas of the tank. Germany used netting quite often on there tanks so don’t be shy with the netting if you want to.

As you can see, netting can really add that extra detail to your Tiger I project without costing a boatload of money.
